Sealed With the Holy Spirit

Submitted Sunday, March 18, 2007 / Views 64 / Comment (0)

At the moment of salvation when we accept Jesus as our personal Lord and Savior, three most amazing things will happen. The first is that we get automatic forgiveness for all of our sins - all past, present and future sins that we will ever commit. The second thing that will occur is that we will get to go straight to heaven when we die and cross over because we have now become saved and born again.

However, there is a third thing that will occur that some Christians really don't realize or have full knowledge of. At the exact moment that we accept Jesus as our Lord and Savior and become saved and born again - we also instantaneously "receive" the third person of the Godhead - the Holy Spirit Himself!

The Bible tells us that both God and Jesus live in heaven. However, when we become saved and born again - we literally get to receive the Holy Spirit Himself. He literally, and I mean literally, comes to live on the inside of us. As you will see in the Scripture verses I will list below - our bodies have now become the temple of the Holy Spirit because He is now living on the inside of us! Not only does the Holy Spirit come to live on the inside of us as a result of accepting Jesus as our Lord and Savior, but the Bible also tells us that we have now become "sealed" with the Holy Spirit.

Music Mini Course: Learn The Basics Of Reading Music On A Keyboard Instrument

Welcome to the wonderful world of music. As you begin reading this Music Mini Course it is fun to realize that you are also participating in a very important cultural aspect from around the world which has been going on for centuries. Did you know that pianos in some form have been around for over 500 years? Some of the first instruments of this kind were created in the late Medieval Period and were called clavichords. They had a very light, metallic sound because the small hand-pounded 'hammers' were made of very light weight metal-like material. These hammers struck strings of varying lengths to create different tones or pitches. The next cousin to the clavichord was the harpsichord invented by Cristofori in Italy around 1450 A.D. This keyboard instrument had a mechanism in it called the plecktrum which 'plucked' the strings and produced a slightly stronger sound than its predecessor. Whether you are playing an acoustic instrument, which is the closest relative to the history just mentioned, or an electronic keyboard, you are now participating in a centuries old musical art form.

Reading People: Body Language Briefing

Submitted Friday, March 16, 2007 / Views 63 / Comment (5)

Body language is the meaning behind the words or the"unspoken" language. Surprisingly, studies show that onlyup to an estimated 10 percent of our communication isverbal.

The majority of the rest of communication isunspoken. This unspoken language isn't rocket science. However, there are some generalizations or basicinterpretations that can be applied to help with theunderstanding or translating of these unspoken meanings. Here are some basics below.

1. Smile

People like warm smiles. Think of a heartfelt warm-fussy, maybe your favorite pet, and smile.

2. Eyes

If you don't look someone in the eyes while speaking, this can be interpreted as dishonesty or hiding something. Likewise, shifting eye movement or rapid changing of focus/direction can translate similarly.

If more than one person is present in a group, look each person in the eye as you speak, slowly turning toface the next person and acknowledge him or her with eyecontact as well. Continue on so that each person has feltyour warm, trusting glance. Some suggest beginning with oneperson and moving clockwise around the group so that no oneis missed, and so that you are not darting around, seemingly glaring at people.

Device Driver Basics

Submitted Friday, March 16, 2007 / Views 126 / Comment (4)

Most people understand that the "hardware" part of their computer is the real physical parts, like the keyboard, mouse, modem, hard drive and so on. They understand that the "software" is computer bits stored on the hard drive, CD-ROM, or other storage media. But most people are a little hazy about exactly what a "driver" is.

In this article, I'm going to reveal in plain English what a driver is, why we need drivers, and exactly where the drivers are hiding. To give you a basic understanding, I'm going to go back, way back, to the early days of computers.

The Early Days

The year is 1981 and the world is in the midst of a severe resession. IBM's main frame business has slowed and the company is losing money. Up until now they had been laughing at the array of microcomputers on the market: Atari, Commodore, sinclair. Toys really, mostly used to play computer games.

The problem was, these "toys" were selling like hot cakes. IBM had to get into that market and get into it fast. They didn't have time to design and build a computer complete enough to compete in the market, so they built an "open system". They used commonly available electronic components and they published every design detail (including the code), and they even provided plug in slots so that others could build components for their computer.
